In the United States alone, an estimated 500 million cell phones have been retired, meaning they are unused in someone’s home or in the trash. Most of those phones end up in a kitchen drawer collecting dust, causing literally billions of dollars to go to waste.

By partnering with Cellular Recycler, the NCOA has developed a way for the National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC) to collect used cell phones for fundraising and to help the environment by keeping phones out of our nation's landfills.

All You Have to Do is Ask

Cell phone collection is probably one of the easiest fundraising programs you'll participate in. Most cell phone users don't know what to do with their used cell phones and will be happy to donate their phones to a good cause.

  • Collect at your church or religious organization
  • Ask for used cell phones when getting donations
  • Ask your local cell phone retailer to gather phones from customers
  • Set up collection boxes at local schools or businesses

90% of Proceeds Go to Your Senior Center

The NCOA, in affiliation with the National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC), has developed this new cutting-edge tool for fundraising that will easily raise much needed funds for everyday activity for seniors. Ninety percent of the proceeds will go directly to your local senior center or organization. Ten percent will go back to the NCOA to help continue new and innovative ways to provide fundraising and support senior center initiatives across America. If you're not a member of the NCOA and NISC, you'll have the opportunity to join using proceeds from collected phones at a special $95 membership fee.
