Got A Question?

How much are cell phones worth?

The average box received is worth about $1-$2/phone. Phones 2 years & newer are typically worth $2-$80, while phones older than that will be melted down for their precious metals here in the US and are worth $0.25.

People are turning in their cell phone and all of their other accessories, do you recycle the chargers & other things people turn in?

Yes. This includes chargers, blue-tooths, ear buds etc. However, we ask that any boxes or manuals you receive are recycled on your own as they take up a lot of space when shipped with your phones.

What happens to the data on the phones?
Do you erase it?

Phones that can be re-used have their data cleared through a process called flashing which reloads the phone software and clears out all data on the phone. The data on phones that can’t be re-used is destroyed by melting them down for their precious metals here in the US.

I see that I can turn in laptops, can I also collect the big desktop computers and monitors?

No. Desktop computers & monitors are not accepted through this program. Those items pose a risk to the shipping companies if the monitor was to break during transit and our facility is not approved to handle the lead contained in monitors. However, we do encourage that you recycle these items locally. Here is a website to find the closest recycler to you that accepts desktop computers & monitors (probably will accept that old printer too!)

Can I get the money for recycling my cell phone?

Absolutely! We would be more than happy to send you a check for the cell phones you’ve recycled with us. After all you deserve a little reward for keeping your cell phones out of the landfill.

What if the weight on my UPS label isn’t correct?

Don’t worry about the weight. UPS will very kindly adjust any overweight package and bill us for the difference (this has no effect on your payout). Just make sure that your box is securely taped up so no phones leak out during shipment.

Some of the phones that I’ve collected are broken, do you accept broken phones?

Yes, we accept all phones. We have been doing this for a while and understand that a small percentage of phones will be broken. You’ll get paid whatever the price guide indicates as long as it’s a whole phone (not ripped in half, although we can still recycle phones that have been ripped in half).

How long does it take to get paid for the phones I’ve recycled with you?

It takes about 2-4 weeks from the day you ship your box of phones until the day you have your check in hand. However, we’ll e-mail you an inventory statement in about 2 weeks.

Here is the timeline:

  • 1 week to ship to our facility
  • 3-4 days to process & inventory all phones & e-mail your inventory statement
  • 3-4 days to issue payment
  • 4-6 days for USPS to deliver your check

What non-profits do you support?

We have worked with a multitude of non-profits over the years.  When you are printing off your free shipping label you can choose to support one of these charities or write in your own.
